Packing

Packing Carb: Baguettes and Bagels

The downside of sending out your laundry is that it doesn’t always come back on time. Of course, my laundry came back late this week and none of those clean clothes are in my suitcase. Le sigh.

The bigger consequence is that I was waiting for those clothes to finish packing, which led me to a rushed Saturday morning trying to get everything into my checked luggage. Overwhelmed and anxious, I pushed through with lots of deep breaths. I kept repeating to myself “you’re a badass, you’ve got this” as I took the foam pieces out of my wine suitcase, because of course everything didn’t fit into one checked bag. That’s when my sister called to wish me a good trip, and I broke down. She and her husband calmed me down, then she hopped in the car to pick me up and drive to the airport. She made me feel so loved, I cried most of the way to the airport (and may be teary in the airport lounge writing this). She really showed up for me and I love her so much for it.

I ended up with 2 checked suitcases, my carryon, and tote bag. Who did I think I was trying to travel the world with just 1 checked bag? Plus I can check 2 bags free, and now have space for souvenirs.

Boarding starts in 10 minutes. Here we go…!
